MEDICAL BLACKMAIL

      Today, when my wife and I went to a nursing home to visit our son, another patient's family said good by to us and to our son. Their mother was leaving. They explained that her insurance would no longer cover her stay at the facility, and the family could not pay the $13,000.00 or more per month to keep her there. It was another sad story about our medical system in our country. no money or insurance no care. Of course, you can give up all of your assets and go on Medicaid and hope your level of care is sufficient.

     I have read very few archaeological books but the ones that I have read have been eye opening. One of the first was the discovery of the ancient city of Troy which many thought to be nothing more than myth. Heinrich Schliemann spent most of his fortune digging until he found the ancient city and put to bed the story of the Iliad. I have just finished reading another archaeological text, When the Stones Speak, by Doron Spielman, It is the story of the excavation of old Jerusalem to find the original City of David.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND

     For the past many years I have been privileged to travel to a few foreign countries. Many times to Canada before a passport was needed and then to Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, France, Italy and Hungary. I say privileged because these countries do not have to welcome me or any one else but they allow visitors for pleasure and work as we do in the USA. A passport was required and check-in and customs checks were required but I was free to move about the country as I wished. They expected me to follow their laws and customs while I was their guest.
